Interact is Rotary International’s service club for young people 12-18 and was formally inaugurated in 1962. Interact gives students the opportunity to grow as a person, gain leadership skills, and give back. When students join Interact, they are uniting with over 385,000 young people in 165 countries and geographic areas in over 17,000 Interact clubs around the world. Interactors, through projects, develop a network of friendships with local and international clubs and in the process, learn the value of hard work and help promote both local and international understanding. We are investing in our future when students join excellent service organizations such as Interact.

This fall, a ceremonial commemoration will take place at the Wissahickon Middle School.  During the induction ceremony and as part of Interact club meetings, Interactors pledge to follow the same “Four-Way Test” that Rotarians also follow.  Those are principles that support and guide our actions.  These principles are:  Is it the TRUTH? Is it FAIR to all concerned?  Will it build GOODWILL and better friendships?  Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Blue Bell Rotary recognizes that Interact Clubs are self-governing and self-supporting. As sponsor, we supply support and guidance for the Interact club and help provide connections to Rotary International.  Leadership skills and a spirit of teamwork are already being taught in the Wissahickon Schools. WMS Interact Club Faculty Advisor, Caeli Duke, is showing the members of Interact that in helping others, in our local and international communities, we can do more together than we could ever hope to do alone.
