BREAKFAST MEETING

You left this breakfast meeting with a sincere feeling that our future had real potential and promise.  The room was full of energy as we witnessed the accomplishments our youth programs which exceeded our imaginations.   The excitement begun with a presentation from our "Rotaract Club", which is our sponsored service club for men and women ages 18 to 30.  Ingrid (President) and Melissa shared their Rotaract experience in raising over $800 from their recent Pasta Dinner.  Proceeds will go towards helping support our upcoming international service trip, which will be led by Rotarian Teal to provide Dental Hygiene Education in Uganda ahd Kenya. Their presentation was followed by an acknowledgement of Educational Excellence, as Rotarian Russ Bellavance, Chair of Vocational Committee, presented Wissahickon High School Student Anabel Mason with our "Student of the Quarter Award" for her scholastic achievement,  strong commitment and dedication to the community.  Anabel shared her experience from her mission trips, community fishing trips, and her volunteerism with Cradles to Crayons.  She is a great student and plans to attend the University of Delaware.  The excitement continued as we heard form our "Rotary Youth Exchange" which is our one year overseas study program which allows students an opportunity to experience cultures in other countries; it is a program which brings peace to the world at their early age.  Our Rotary Youth Exchange members were Raphaelle Perrier from France, Annelia Kreike form the Netherlands, Carolyn Frank from the US who will travel in 2016, and Christina Tsiobikas from the US.  Christina recently traveled to Valencia Spain and was our brave speaker for the morning.  She gave a wonderful presentation and spoke about the culture and about family values in one of the oldest cities in Spain. We had additional guest who were equally exciting, David Frank, father of Exchange Student Carolyn Frank, Lisa Kennedy our major volunteer and supporter of the Exchange Students, Carla Grimm Manager Normandy Farms, and our dear friend Cherubim Vedomey.
